The Agriculture and Fisheries Council is one of the oldest organs of the Council of the European Union. The Agriculture and Fisheries Ministers of the EU countries and the representatives of the European Commission responsible for these issues will meet on average once a month to decide on themes relating to the common agricultural and fisheries policies. The Commissioner for Agriculture is Mariann Fischer Boel, the Commissioner for Fisheries is Joe Borg and the Commissioner for Health is Markos Kyprianou.
During Finland's Presidency of the EU, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Juha Korkeaoja will chair the meetings of the Council. Meetings in Brussels will take place in July, August, November and December 2006. The October Council will be held in Luxembourg.
