Finnish Food Safety Authority Evira steers and controls the compliance with the hygiene legislation in the food sector administered by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Evira approves slaughterhouses and establishments operating in connection with these and organises meat inspections and control in these facilities. Evira also keeps the national register on establishments and posts of first entry handling foodstuffs of animal origin.
