Natural resource indicators measure the state of Finland’s natural resources and how they are being used

These specially selected indicators provide concise information on the state of Finland’s renewable natural resources, and the sustainability of their use. They are used to assess how well the aims of the national Natural Resources Strategy are being realised, and in the monitoring and planning of natural resource use.

Indicators have been selected for agriculture, forestry, fisheries, reindeer husbandry, game management, water resources and the role of natural resources in rural development.

Information systems for monitoring natural resources

Special monitoring systems have been set up to help the authorities safeguard the environment and ensure natural resources are used sustainably. Specific information and monitoring systems have been established covering various aspects of the state of the environment and the sustainable use, management and conservation of natural resources.
