Finland and work on agriculture in the OECD

Finland has been a member of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) since 1969. The analytical work and discussions carried out within this forum for industrialised countries with market economies provide valuable inputs for policy-making processes in Finland. Expert evaluations produce insights into how Finland’s policies and administrative structures could be further developed in different sectors.

The overall responsibility for Finland’s work in the OECD lies with the Trade Policy Department of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry presents Finland’s positions within the OECD Committees for Agriculture and Fisheries, and represents Finland in permanent Working Parties under the Committee for Agriculture, as well as in seminars and conferences on these issues.

Two national organisations under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry also participate in the OECD’s agricultural work: the Finnish Food Safety Authority (Evira) and Agrifood Research Finland (MTT).
