The activities of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry comprise agriculture, horticulture and forestry, fisheries, game and reindeer farming, other rural industries and the development of rural areas, the use and management of water resources, land surveying, veterinary care and the related monitoring of the health of animals and plants and foodstuffs of animal origin.
The staff of the Ministry is about 350 and the whole administrative sector employs 5,100 persons. The budget of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry totals 2.8 billion euros.
