Open House at the agencies and Ministry on 2 and 3 October

Friday the 2nd of October 2009 will be the 200th anniversary of the Government of Finland. To celebrate this special day, the Government ministries and agencies offer Open House Events for the citizens. All agencies in our sector will be open to the public on Friday 2 October and the Ministry on Saturday 3 October (Hallituskatu 3A, 00170 Helsinki).

Friday 2 October Open House at the agencies

The agencies and institutes in the administrative sector of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry present their activities on Friday 2 October. The organisations which participate in the event are the Finnish Food Safety Authority Evira, Agrifood Research Finland MTT, National Land Survey of Finland, Finnish Game and Fisheries Research Institute RKTL, Forest Research Institute Metla and regional environment centres.

Evira gives a tour of its main office in Viikki, Helsinki. The Muhos Unit of the Finnish Forest Research Institute Metla offers a public lecture on Metla’s research work, tour of the premises and laboratory, demonstration of heating with pellets, as well as coffee. The National Land Survey of Finland presents its work at the District Office of Mikkeli, where the public may also learn more about the transfer of entries from the District Courts to the National Land Survey.

Saturday 3 October Open House at the Ministry

The Ministry is open to the public on Saturday 3 October at 10.00-14.00. The address is Hallituskatu 3A. The citizens are welcome to view premises to which public access is not often granted. Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Sirkka-Liisa Anttila’s office is also open and she will be present to greet the visitors. The public will receive various kinds of information on the work done at the Ministry.
